What MB-330 covers

MB-330 tests whether you can configure Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management to fit a customer's real processes. The study guide, last revised for skills measured as of October 21, 2026, splits the exam into five areas. Product information management carries the most weight at 25 to 30 percent. Inventory and asset management and warehouse and transportation management each sit at 20 to 25 percent. Supply chain processes take 15 to 20 percent, and master planning 10 to 15 percent.

The detail is very hands-on. Expect questions on product dimension groups, reservation hierarchies, item model groups, costing versions and trade agreements. You also need quality orders, maintenance plans, purchase agreements, landed cost voyages, intercompany orders, location directives, wave templates, the Warehouse Management mobile app, freight reconciliation, coverage groups and Planning Optimization. Copilot in Supply Chain Management is listed in the audience profile. The exam is offered in English and Japanese.

Who it suits

Microsoft pitches this certification at functional consultants who map business requirements to system features and work alongside architects, developers and project managers. In practice that means people who set up the system on implementation projects: logistics and warehouse specialists, planners, and Dynamics AX consultants moving to the cloud product. If you have run a warehouse, a procurement team or a planning desk, you already know the business side. The exam checks whether you can configure it.

It is a poor fit if you have never touched the product. The questions assume you know which setup screen drives which behavior. Get time in a demo or sandbox environment before you book.

What happened to MB-335 and where AB-330 fits

The expert step above MB-330 is gone. Microsoft retired the Supply Chain Management Functional Consultant Expert certification, its MB-335 exam and its renewal assessments on June 30, 2026. Nobody can earn or renew it now. If you already earned it, Microsoft says it stays on your Microsoft Learn transcript. Partners keep program credit for it for one year after retirement.

AB-330 is the newer exam. Passing it earns Microsoft Certified: Supply Chain Management AI Consultant Associate, currently in beta. It is built around six end-to-end processes: design to retire, forecast to plan, inventory to deliver, order to cash, plan to produce and source to pay. It also covers AI-enabled features. Microsoft's blog says general availability is expected in January 2027. Its June 2026 roundup listed MB-330 as expected to retire in December 2026, with AB-330 as the successor. When we checked, the Microsoft Learn retirement table did not yet list MB-330.

Should you take MB-330 now or wait for AB-330?

If you can pass MB-330 in the next few weeks, it is still worth taking. The exam has a full study guide, a free practice assessment and learning paths, and the certification shows up on your Learn transcript. Once a certification retires, it stays on your transcript but you cannot renew it, so plan to add AB-330 later.

If you are starting from zero, the MB-330 material is still the best grounding in the product. AB-330 currently has no training on Microsoft Learn, and its practice assessment usually arrives within eight weeks of general availability. Beta scores are not released straight away.
