An implementation partner helps customers plan, build, and improve business systems. Some partners also sell software, managed services, or industry products.

Your experience depends on the team, customer work, and delivery approach. Ask which part of the business will employ you.

The working week

You might lead a workshop, configure a process, test a change, or support a customer issue. Work can move between projects.

Billable time means time charged to customer work. Ask how targets account for training, internal tasks, presales, and mentoring.

Travel and remote work vary. Ask for the likely pattern on your first assignment and who pays travel time and costs.

Learning and support

Project variety can build broad experience when there is time to reflect and get feedback. A busy schedule alone does not provide good development.

Ask who reviews junior work and how the team handles a task beyond your experience. Find out how training time is protected.

Look for examples of people who followed the route you want, whether specialist, architect, project leader, or manager.

Moving up

Senior consultants often own a workstream and coach others. Principal roles may add difficult design decisions and wider quality responsibilities.

Practice leaders may handle people, staffing, delivery quality, and commercial results. Presales roles add buyer discovery and demonstrations.

Titles differ. Ask for the responsibilities and evidence required at the next level.

Before accepting an offer

Check the first project, supervision, utilisation target, travel, bench policy, and progression process. Bench time means time between billable assignments.

Ask how the employer handles delayed projects and difficult customer situations. A clear example is more useful than a broad promise.

Practice task
