The Role
Principal Architect – Dynamics 365 F&O and CE
We are looking for a senior technical and functional authority for our Microsoft Dynamics 365 ecosystem, spanning Finance & Operations (F&O) and Customer Engagement (CE), including Sales and Project Operations. This role bridges deep platform architecture expertise with strong business acumen, translating complex sales, marketing, and project finance processes into scalable, well-governed solutions across the Microsoft estate. The Principal Architect will partner closely with business stakeholders, the CIO, and the broader IT organization to shape the long-term architectural roadmap, ensure solution integrity, and drive enterprise-wide adoption of best practices.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end solution architecture for Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (Sales, Project Operations), ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and business strategy.
- Translate business requirements from sales, marketing, and project finance stakeholders into scalable, maintainable technical designs across the D365 platform.
- Serve as the principal technical advisor on complex project finance business processes, including revenue recognition, project costing, billing, and margin analysis within D365 F&O and Project Operations.
- Lead architecture governance: define standards, patterns, and reusable frameworks for customizations, integrations, and extensions across F&O and CE.
- Design and oversee integrations between D365 F&O, D365 Sales, Project Operations, Power BI/Microsoft Fabric, and other enterprise systems.
- Evaluate new Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and Microsoft Fabric capabilities, recommending adoption where they create measurable business value.
- Partner with the CIO and IT leadership to develop and maintain the multi-year Dynamics 365 architectural roadmap.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership during implementations, upgrades, and major enhancements, including solution reviews, code/config audits, and performance tuning.
- Mentor functional and technical consultants, fostering strong architectural discipline and cross-team knowledge sharing.
- Act as an escalation point for complex production issues, driving root-cause analysis and long-term remediation.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance across the D365 environment in coordination with IT security and governance teams.
- Support vendor and implementation partner management, including solution reviews, statements of work, and technical due diligence.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 architecture, with demonstrated expertise across both Finance & Operations (F&O) and Customer Engagement (CE).

- Demonstrated ability to translate business strategy and process requirements into enterprise-grade technical architecture.
- Deep knowledge of D365 F&O modules (Finance, Project Management and Accounting) and the Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse).
- Experience designing integrations using Azure Integration Services, Dual-Write, and/or Data Management Framework (DMF).
- Working knowledge of Power BI and Microsoft Fabric reporting environments and how they consume D365 data.
- Experience with marketing automation platforms (e.g., Dynamics 365 Marketing, HubSpot) and their integration with D365 Sales and CE.
- Strong understanding of sales pipeline management and revenue forecasting processes, including how they are modeled and reported within D365 Sales and Power BI.
- Familiarity with applying AI tools and Microsoft AI capabilities (e.g., Copilot for Dynamics 365, Power Platform AI Builder) to improve sales, marketing, and finance workflows.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence both technical and executive audiences.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft certifications in Dynamics 365 F&O and/or Dynamics 365 CE (e.g., Solution Architect Expert).
- Experience in the exhibits, experiential marketing, event services, or professional services industry.
- Familiarity with agile delivery methodologies and enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF).
- Experience leading D365 upgrades or greenfield implementations from design through hypercare.
