What do UK Dynamics 365 contracts pay a day?

IT Jobs Watch tracks UK contract adverts that name Dynamics 365. In the six months to 5 November 2026 it counted 539 quoted day rates. The median was £509. A quarter of adverts sat at or below £425, and a quarter sat at or above £575. Every one of these is the rate an agency or client put in the advert. None of it is take-home pay, and none of it is an official Dynamics 365 rate.

Job title moves the rate more than anything else. Adverts titled Dynamics 365 Architect had a median of £575, and Solution Architect adverts also had a median of £575, with the upper quarter starting at £666. Consultant adverts had a median of £550. Developer adverts had a median of £463. The Power Platform skill tag drew 1,677 rates with a median of £500, and Power Platform Developer adverts also had a median of £500.

London against the rest of the UK

IT Jobs Watch gives a separate median for the UK excluding London: £475 a day for the Dynamics 365 skill, against £509 for the whole UK. London adverts pull the national figure up, so a contract in Manchester, Birmingham or Leeds will often advertise below the national median. Many Dynamics roles are now hybrid or remote. When you compare offers, look at how many days a week the client wants you on site and who pays the travel, because a London rate with three office days can net out lower than a regional remote rate.

Are rates rising or falling?

They have slipped slightly. In the same six months of 2025 the Dynamics 365 median was £525. The 2026 figure of £509 is about 3% lower. Demand has not dried up, though. IT Jobs Watch counted more Dynamics 365 contract adverts in 2026 than in the same period of 2025. In my experience, rates hold best for people who have led full Finance and Operations or Customer Engagement implementations and can show it. Generalists who mainly configure forms and views feel the squeeze first.

How IR35 affects a day rate

HM Revenue & Customs says the off-payroll working rules, known as IR35, make sure a contractor working through their own intermediary pays broadly the same Income Tax and National Insurance as an employee would. The rules apply where the worker would have been an employee if they had contracted with the client directly. They are assessed contract by contract.

For most clients, the client decides your status and should give you a status determination statement. For a small private-sector client, your own company makes that call. If you are deemed employed, the deemed employer deducts Income Tax and employee National Insurance from the fees. HMRC also says the rules are unlikely to apply if you are employed by an umbrella company. Because of this, an inside IR35 rate leaves you much less money than the same outside IR35 rate.

What you need

  • Delivery track recordClients hiring contractors expect you to have taken part in full implementations, and to work from day one with little onboarding.
  • A clear product focusRates and demand differ between Finance and Operations, Customer Engagement, Business Central and Power Platform work, so position yourself in one.
  • Microsoft certificationCertification is not a legal requirement, but many adverts ask for the relevant Microsoft exam for the product you deliver.
  • A trading setupYou need a limited company, an umbrella company or agency payroll. Which one suits you depends on how each contract is assessed under IR35.
