Make the first page specific
State the roles and products that match your experience. Give the reader a clear summary of your strengths and the work you want next.
Use the product names employers recognise, including a common older term where it helps. Explain the actual scope behind broad labels such as CE or F&O.
Write evidence-based examples
Use this pattern: problem, your responsibility, action, result, and scope. Include a number only when you can explain its source and meaning.
Example: I prepared and ran tests for a new purchase approval process. I recorded defects and retested the fixes with the finance lead.
That example describes test ownership. It does not claim responsibility for the whole implementation.
Separate study and delivery
Put certifications and learning projects in clear sections. State when a portfolio item uses invented data or remains a design exercise.
For employment examples, show the product, process, team context, and your contribution. Remove private customer information unless you have permission to share it.
Avoid copying a job description into a list of skills you cannot explain.
Prepare five examples
- A problem you investigated and the evidence you used.
- A decision you made with other people.
- A test or review that changed your approach.
- A difficult conversation you handled clearly.
- A lesson you applied in later work.
Handle technical questions
Clarify the product, assumptions, and expected outcome before answering. Explain your reasoning and name details you would check in current documentation.
If you have not performed the task, say what related experience you have and how you would seek support. Do not invent a project example.
Questions for the employer
Ask about the first assignment, work review, learning access, working hours, and progression evidence. Request a concrete example where an answer is vague.
Check who owns decisions and how the team handles mistakes. These details show how the role operates in practice.
