What do US adverts for Finance roles pay?

D365 Market looked at every US advert on the site that stated pay for Dynamics 365 Finance work. As of November 5, 2026 there were 14 of them, from 12 employers. The median was $165,295 a year. A quarter of the adverts offered $127,000 or less, and a quarter offered $177,325 or more. These figures are advertised pay. They tell you what employers put in the posting, not what people end up taking home after negotiation, bonus or overtime.

The sample is thin, and it leans toward states with pay transparency laws, where employers must print a range. A single large employer posting several roles could move the median noticeably. For a wider view, the full Dynamics 365 category on the site had 48 US adverts from 34 employers, with a median of $153,050 and a middle half from $123,600 to $182,260. Finance sits near the top of that spread.

How does that compare with the nearest government figure?

The Bureau of Labor Statistics does not track Dynamics 365 work. The nearest match is Computer Systems Analysts, a generic occupation that includes plenty of people who never touch an ERP system. The BLS reports a median annual wage of $105,850 for that occupation in May 2025. Adjusted to 2026 with the Employment Cost Index, its middle half runs from about $85,450 to $138,300, with a median near $109,150.

The Finance advert median sits well above that. Part of the gap is real: Finance and Operations projects are large, long and expensive, and clients pay for people who can design a general ledger and close process correctly. Part of it is how the data is gathered. The BLS figure covers everyone in the occupation, junior staff included, while adverts that print pay skew toward experienced hires in high-cost states.

How does accounting experience affect offers?

Microsoft expects candidates for the Finance Functional Consultant Associate certification to have a foundational understanding of accounting principles. On a real project that means you can sit with a controller and talk about intercompany eliminations, accruals, fixed asset depreciation and month-end close without a translator. Hiring managers notice that quickly in interviews.

In my experience, an accountant who also knows the product is easier to place than a generalist who only knows the screens. The BLS makes a similar point for systems analysts in general: industry knowledge, such as finance for an analyst at a bank, helps them work with managers. No source puts a dollar figure on that edge, so I won't either. Accounting background alone rarely gets a top offer. It pays best once you have delivered at least one full implementation.

What moves you up the range?

Seniority is the biggest lever. Across all Dynamics 365 adverts on the site, mid-level roles stated a median of $120,000 from 17 adverts, while senior roles stated $174,150 from 12 adverts and lead roles $167,750 from 14 adverts. The functional consultant category is a small sample of 5 adverts from 3 employers, with a median of $150,000, so read it loosely.

After seniority, the things that move offers are go-live experience, depth in specific modules such as consolidations, budgeting, tax or subscription billing, and a current MB-310 certification. Breadth across Finance and Supply Chain Management also helps, because many clients run both and want one lead who understands how inventory postings hit the ledger.

Questions people ask

Is $165,295 what a Dynamics 365 Finance consultant earns?

It is the median pay stated in 14 US adverts on D365 Market as of November 5, 2026. It is advertised pay, not reported earnings, and it leans toward states with pay transparency laws. Use it as a reference point, not a promise.

Do I need to be an accountant to earn at the top of the range?

No. Microsoft expects a foundational grasp of accounting principles, not a professional qualification. Accounting experience helps you in client workshops and interviews, but delivered implementations do more for your pay than a finance background alone.

Does the MB-310 certification raise pay?

No source ties a dollar figure to MB-310. Partners often ask for it because it shows you know the product, and it is cheap to keep current, since renewal is a free online assessment every 12 months.

Why is the BLS figure so much lower?

The BLS has no Dynamics 365 occupation. Computer Systems Analysts is the nearest match, and it covers many generic IT roles at every level, so its 2026-adjusted median of about $109,150 is a comparison only.

What about UK pay for this work?

No UK figure specific to Dynamics 365 Finance was available. IT Jobs Watch shows a median advertised permanent salary of £65,000 for UK jobs citing Dynamics 365 in the 6 months to November 5, 2026, across all Dynamics roles.
