How to get access for D365 practice

Start with the product

D365 includes several applications with different access rules. A course or development plan for one product may not provide another.

Choose the product and exercise first. Write down which features and environment you need, then check the current official options.

Power Apps development

The Power Apps Developer Plan supports development and testing. It has account and tenant conditions, and it is not intended for production use.

Read the current plan page before signing up. Check whether your organisation allows the required environment and services.

A developer environment does not give universal access to Finance, Business Central, or every D365 app. Check each product separately.

Employer and course environments

An employer may provide approved learning access. Ask what you can build, which data you can use, and how long the environment remains available.

For paid training, confirm lab access in writing before booking. Ask whether it includes the required product, practical exercises, and access after the course.

Never use a customer's production system as a personal sandbox. Follow the organisation's access and change rules.

Work you can do without a tenant

You can map a process, write requirements, prepare tests, clean invented data, or design an integration with mock systems.

These exercises build useful skills and can form part of a portfolio. Label them as design or simulation work and explain what remains untested.

Use current Microsoft documentation to check product terms and supported methods. Keep a list of assumptions that need a real environment.
