About the Role
The SharePoint Application Developer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting SharePoint solutions that enable effective collaboration, content management, workflow automation, and business process optimization.
This role partners with business and IT stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable SharePoint applications, sites, integrations, and automated solutions while ensuring security, performance, and maintainability.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain SharePoint sites, applications, workflows, and solutions
- Configure and customize SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365 capabilities
- Develop solutions using Power Platform, including Power Automate and Power Apps
- Integrate SharePoint with other enterprise applications and data sources
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Manage permissions, security, governance, and site architecture
- Troubleshoot and resolve SharePoint-related issues
- Support migrations and modernization from legacy SharePoint environments
- Establish development standards and documentation
- Collaborate with business users, IT teams, and vendors to deliver solutions
- Perform other additional duties as assigned
Requirements
Experience & Education
- 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience
- Bachelor's Degree with Computer Science / MIS field of study required
Core SharePoint Skills
- SharePoint Online
- SharePoint Framework (SPFx)
- SharePoint site architecture
- Lists, libraries, and content types
- Permissions and security management
Development Skills
- JavaScript (ES6+)
- TypeScript
- HTML5 and CSS3
- React (most common with SPFx)
- REST APIs
- Microsoft Graph API
- JSON formatting for SharePoint lists and columns
- XML & CAML
- C# for CSOM in VS development (legacy but still used)
- Client-side web parts and extensions
- PowerShell (PnP)
Microsoft Power Platform
- Power Automate
- Power Apps
- Document management
- Managed metadata and taxonomy
Other Education/Certifications
- Advanced study preferred (e.g., Master's in Information Systems/Software Engineering) or equivalent hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 development
- Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Developer Associate (PL-400)
- SharePoint Online architecture and governance: permissions/security management, managed metadata/taxonomy, content types, and PnP PowerShell; migration/modernization experience
